Edit-a-thon «Women for Wikipedia» gets a new visual identity

Brandsoul redesigned the entire visual identity, covering everything from the logo to the website. The objective of the redesign was to raise awareness and put the spotlight on the edit-a-thon, by creating an integrated and fresh look.

The edit-a-thon “Women for Wikipedia” takes place as a collaboration with the Swiss Radio and Television corporation, Ringier and Wikimedia CH. At the event, various media professionals collectively write Wikipedia entries about women. Although the online encyclopedia is one of the most frequently used websites in the world, it largely consists of articles written by men. This unbalanced gender ratio also impacts the biography entries: only 15 percent of the approximately 660’000 biographies on the German Wikipedia, are about women. The writing marathon’s intention is to add femininity to the articles.

Brandsoul was commissioned to redesign the logo, as well as the entire appearance. This also includes the implementation on all communication platforms, as well as on the website.
